Enjoying the Zoo!

Goodness I don't know how I seem to get so behind on blogging... But things are busy! We headed to the zoo this morning for our new weekly visit (based on the weather).

It was cool but lovely! The sunshine warmed us up, and there wasn't any wind. The animals were very active and interesting and we had the place mostly to ourself :)! The monkeys were in the barn until 11, because it was a little chilly.

Jack is good friends with the piggies, and this morning one in particular was smitten with him :)! After a few minutes of piggy chats and snorts, we moved on to visit all the other creatures. But we did come back to say one last goodbye on our way out.

It was wonderful to get to run and visit all morning, and thankfully with Jacks cold clearing up he is much more agreeable. He's an excellent listener usually when we go out together, so I didn't have to chase him around. Which would be nearly impossible for me to do anyway, I'm waddling around as is haha.

After such a busy morning of running around and lots of fresh air, we had Lunch with Papa at their house! Jack was so thrilled to have a special lunch date. And then of course had a fabulous sleep!

I was treated to lots of furry snuggles too!

By afternoon it really warmed up, and we played out front for a teeny bit before driving back home. We had to of course search for any frogs in the pond that just opened up. So far, no frogs!

Outside Play!

Honestly I cannot believe how lovely the spring weather has been to us the last week. Getting outside each day for a couple hours has been so refreshing. Goodness knows in the last few weeks my pregnancy has just been less and less comfortable, fresh air has been a welcome change.

Jack loves being outside, and he is that much older that he will stay in the yard to play, and entertain himself really well with all nature has to offer.

His favourite things to do is draw with chalk, chase bubbles and garden. Thankfully he actually is a good helper with thing outside instead of when he was younger.

And he got a new bike from the Easter Bunny so we are practicing steering on little trips up the road and back. But I'm certain once he conquers how to properly steer we will be on longer walks.

The other awesome thing is that Lucy has been a saint. She is truly like a different dog, much more manageable during the daytime, on walks and just hanging out in the yard. Even Jack has been noticing her good behaviour and praising her for not barking. We've made him a part of her training and he loves giving her treats when we come home and she doesn't bark. I think it's been a good bonding experience for them who have had a love/hate relationship in the past.

One thing I'm noticing is how much imagination he has compared to the last time he played with chalk. It's amazing how quickly they change, and how it seems to sneak up on us!

While sometimes I am sad all the baby seems to be gone from him and he's all little boy, I'm really enjoying watching him grow up. Every age he reaches is just much more fun than the last.

Spring has Sprung: Easter Party with Friends & Bike Ride!

After a long week of being sick, Jack desperately missed seeing friends at playgroup (And I did too!) It was so very lovely to get out of the house today, chat, play and do crafts :) Oh and of course doing some Easter egg hunting. It was Jack's first hunt, and he LOVED it.  The weather was especially beautiful and mild. Dare I say it? Spring is likely here to stay!

Mo Willems parcel love from Korea!

Since it's been a long winter, we've seen our share of colds! Jack is just battling his last one and so we're taking a week long staycation to give him a chance to heal up. Since both of us get stir crazy with too much couch/tv time, it will be a week of painting, crafts, games and inside house fun. Hopefully some outside fun too since Jack has put in a request for a bike ride and trip to the park - the snow is quickly melting.

It was the perfect time for a package to arrive in the mail from Aunty Steph! We got three awesome books - two stories and one activity book. I had never heard of the activity book, but I we have one book pigeon story so I knew it must be awesome.

Mo Willems is so freaking awesome. Jack loves the stories about the pidgeon, so he was super psyched to have pages he could colour that had the pigeon on it :)

Happy Birthday (Party) Lucy!

Thats right our darling little fluffy white baby is turning 9 today! We actually thought she was turning ten, but I registered her for birthday coupons with Global Pet foods when we first adopted her and they emailed me this morning telling me it was her 9th birthday. I shared the news with Jack off-handedly ("Did you know it's Lucy's birthday today?!") and he really loved the idea of making a birthday party for her. Since we were going out on this April Fools storm day for some errands, Jack helped me make a list of party essentials. Gifts, cake, hats.  He's basing his party planning on an episode of Harold and the Purple Crayon, where they have a party with all of his animals friends.

For one fleeting moment I thought "How fun would it be to bake a cake together?" But just the idea of it exhausted me ontop of the other things I was cooking today (more on that tomorrow) so we bought her a Walmart special cake haha. Walmart was difficult to navigate due to the renovations they are doing but thankfully we found all our party essentials. The cashier was so sweet and chatted up Jack querying about a party based on our purchases. He was all too eager to tell her all his party plans for Lucy and she was thrilled to hear he was planning a doggy birthday.

Picked out Lucy's bone :)! Very proud party planner!
