Advent

Bring it on.

We are so stoked to begin celebrating Christmas! We jumped the gun and began our homemade advent calendar tonight. (Who doesn't love opening an Advent calendar the day before you are supposed to ?!)

Someone was eager to help decorate ...

So we made him part of the Christmas experience!

Sleepy pooch enjoying the Christmas tunes and the comfy glow from the lights.

Tomorrow is Sunny Days Christmas Gala and staff party so there will be little time for much else.

Day one completed of our Advent calendar! Check back each day to see what we are up to to get in the Christmas spirit :)!

Cheerio Book!

Jack is finally connecting the dots as to what his Cheerio books are for!

He loves matching the real Cheerios to the picture of Cheerio and then sometimes fills in the blank spots too.

Of course it is just more fun to slam the book shut on piles of Cheerios and listen to the crunching!

Oh right and feed the dog Cheerios too!

Shutterfly Mail Call!

I love Shutterfly SO much. I can't even tell you how many projects I've created with it and ordered. Love love love it.
I was so excited to see a package for us today from Shutterfly. Friday our Christmas cards arrived - but this is the package I was SUPER psyched about.

My awesome 15oz coffee mug with Jacks art on it :).

The flip side have a cutie folk art pattern that says Mommy's mug! My evening coffee was especially delicious!

Banana Muffins - suitable for all ages :)!

Okay we'll at least suitable for Jacks age and grown ups - a rare thing! We are finally crossing over into the time in Jacks life where he can eat the same things as us :) It certainly makes my life MUCH easier packing his lunch!

This afternoon Scotty played with Jack in the living room while I premade a bundle of lunch items for Jack.

And I made a batch of banana muffins (sadly we were out of chocolate chips) and I made a tray of mini muffins for Jacks lunch. Any new food is a process with him so I was fully prepared for him to snub these cutie muffins.

Eureka! When he eats the first bite and wants more we can at least have hope this food can become a regular :)

Fredericton Santa Claus Parade!

We got all bundled up and headed downtown to watch the parade!

We are so excited to start celebrating the holidays!

Jack loved the loud noises and lights - he was cheering!

Daddy, Lucy and Jack enjoying the parade it started to get dark quickly!

Lucy was scared of the loud horns and bagpipes - good thing Mommy had banana puffs to help Lucy get through!

And we got home on time for bath and bed time!

Snapshot from our Day: Dinner time routine!

As we roll in the door Daddy is usually getting our dinner ready! Jack LOVES getting to hug Daddy every day at dinner first thing when he comes home.

Jack learning to hug (and he says "Aweeeeee" when he hugs!) is one the the most rewarding milestones yet! Baby hugs are the best!

A silly moment!

Some times we just have to laugh at the messes we get into. After wrestling a difficult diaper change that took both Mommy and Daddy we quickly tried to get him dressed. The challenges of dressing a wiggly baby ...

as we hoisted his pants up Jack put up more of a fight. Scott grabbed the waistband and tugged. We realized only after why Jack was being so squirmy! We had a hilarious laugh over this - even Jack giggled and loved looking down as both of his legs trapped in on pant leg.

Rockin' the Amber teething necklace!

We've picked up a new teething aid for Jack. Everyone knows a teething baby can be unconsolable and we are ready to try anything to help our little guy out. After seeing it in action on another baby we know it was worth trying out on Jack.

He's been trying it out for three days and his drooling, chewing and biting on things has really gone down.

Today Amy told me he didn't chew at all for the whole day - that is wonderful news(and out of character for this little guy!). We also notice a great improvement in his mood. He's been much less irritable!

For great info about these necklaces and their benefits follow this link - http://www.teethingtots.com/html/faq.html#faq5

Did I mention they are absolutely adorable too?

Christmas Stocking Project! (Part One)

This week I have been puttering away at some little Christmas projects. Hard to believe but Christmas is just over a month away! So much to get completed. And as everyone knows the time between now and Christmas zooms by (and time slows to a dead crawl in January - yuck!).

Since we are spending Christmas at our own place this year we wanted to make our own family stocking to use. Filling the role of sewer/knitter Ill be the one actually putting them together. Scotty helped me narrow down fabric choices, pattern etc which is great to have a second opinion!
Because we knew roughly what we wanted (but not set on anything too specific) it was very simple to pick the fabrics at
Mardens!

A huge thing for me following through to the VERY end of a project. Just check out my Ravelry notebook - yikes that's a lot of knitting waiting to be finished lol. I read some great advice from a mom/crafting blog that suggested breaking your project down into many (as many as needed) 20-30 minute assignments.

I have to admit - not how I imagine my projects going most of the time. I am a more instant gratification kind of crafter. But I've done it with these stockings and it is really working out well.

30mins in an evening or during a Jack nap is the perfect amount of time to clear a place to work, make coffee and get tinkering. Also, I don't usually get interrupted in that short amount of time so I have time to pack away my project rather than leave it sprawled across the kitchen table (and eat at the couch!).
So here is hoping I stay on schedule and actually finish these stockings before Christmas haha :)

Kookoo for Crackers

Earth's Best Organic makes fabulous little Sesame Street crackers. Despite a choking incident (Jack related, not a cracker issue) he is totally diggin it. I tried them and they are great tasting :)

Jack loves them :) once broken up they are his new food of the week success!

This boy loves his food and who are we kidding - we love to share our success and failures when it comes to food!

Jack also tried out a little car cart today at the mall with Amy :) how adorable is his little face?!

He wasn't sure what to make of it at first!
